JDF is the premier volunteer fundraising organization to support diabetes research in the US and around the world.

Insulin-Free World Foundation
listed above as a transplant resource also has lots of other information about the science and the politics of diabetes.

American Diabetes Foundation
Has a very broad cross-section of information; one of the more politically important groups in the US. Their position on most nutrition matters is terribly outdated and not worth any attention at all, but otherwise an OK website.

Post questions, share information with others in similar circumstances. Covers patients facing dialysis, on dialysis, and those with transplants (free registration required).

Nephrology Analytical Services
Lots of information, some pretty technical, some user-friendly.

American Journal of Kidney Diseases
A wealth of information; unfortunately you have to be a member of National Kidney Foundation or a subscriber to access these articles. Your public library may be a member.

United States Renal Data System (USRDS)
An absolutely huge set of statistical data; covers almost ever topic and parameter that you could think up. Not easy to interpret, and statistical data is very often a bit misleading to a consumer, but it is interesting anyway.

A general interest site; superficial, no detailed info, lots of medical news sound-bites, and lousy site navigation with a finicky search tool. Why do I even list it? Just to let you know that there is much better stuff out there. Mayo might be great for high-tech medicne, but this webiste is just a silly toy.

Medical Tests Library-MDAdvice.com
Arranged alphabetically, but frequently with an odd keyword, for example instead or "creatinine" or "serum creatinine" you have to look up "blood creatinine". So search under the list of "blood" or "urine" tests for most things. A goofy, amateruish system of indexing, but the data is OK.

National Cancer Institute / NIAID: Immunology
A detailed discussion of the intricacies of immune response.

General Immunology
By Douglas F. Fix. Without a doubt the best site on this topic ever created. Complex langauge, and a very long document to read, but it gives a better understaing of the complexities and interactions of immune cells and chemicals.

The best fuzzy search engnie out there. Not quite the 'Full Prescribing Information', but very good data.
